We believe your most admirable character traits are the stories of grit and grace that brought you to where you are today. Our style is simple, but each piece has a hidden complexity that can only be revealed through you - the unique and amazing woman wearing it.

Our mission is to empower women to embrace their individuality and find their confidence and to live a life of big adventures and courageous choices.

We value curiosity, travel and connection, and are always seeking to expand our view of the world.

 



 

Meet our team 

Penny Light, Founder

Penny lived in Costa Rica for 6 years, where she founded a transformative adventure travel company - Live Life Light Adventures. When she returned to Canada for a visit, the world shut down, the travel industry came to a screeching halt, and she was forced to pivot hard.

It was while shopping for a new Canadian weather appropriate wardrobe (all she owned were bathing suits & flip flops) she became disappointed in the Canadian retail landscape for women.
 
So out of frustration, and in the middle of a global pandemic, Penny launched Grit & Grace. She wanted to curate unique, high quality clothing for women just like her. And to create a space where they'd feel welcome and confident in their own skin. She wants Grit & Grace to feel less like a store and more like the home of a great friend. It's why our stores have a cozy, living-room style seating area - so we can all gather, connect & lift each other up.

Meet Charley! A proud Grey Bruce native, she's your go-to girl at the store—but when she's off the clock, you’ll likely find her lounging on the beach in Sauble. With an eye for fashion, a love for self-care, and a serious obsession with the colour pink, she brings style and sparkle wherever she goes. Her mission is to make women feel beautiful in all stages of life, take them out of their comfort zones and make them feel empowered. she loves to connect with women and hear their stories that truly represent both Grit and Grace.

Ashleigh, Store Manager @ Guelph

Meet Ash! Born and raised in Guelph, she brings a fun, welcoming energy to the store. When she’s not working or studying, you’ll probably find her out on a hiking trail, camping somewhere scenic, or dreaming up her next travel adventure. With a soft spot for preppy varsity style that blends fashion with athletic influence, Ash is passionate about helping others feel confident in their own skin. She believes personal style should reflect who you are - not just what’s trending - and loves those conversations that spark confidence and fresh perspective.

Abbie, Assistant Store Manager @ Guelph

Meet Abbie! After moving to Guelph for her undergrad, she’s brought enthusiasm and positivity every time she walks into the store. You’ll find Abbie testing new iced coffee recipes, trying a new yoga practice, or reading the nearest historic plaque — wherever she is, she’s sure to bring her smile! Abbie has an incredible attention to detail that translates into her work. Often playing with silhouettes and layers, she absolutely loves advising on styling and believes that shopping for your wardrobe means finding pieces that fit with you and your lifestyle — rather than the other way around!
